Please tell us a little about Arizona Tile.
Arizona Tile is a family-owned tile business that was founded in 1977 by former NFL player and Heisman Trophy winner, John Huarte. Since its original store opened in San Diego, California, Arizona Tile has grown to have locations in seven states, and has become a nationally renowned tile and stone distributor in both the commercial and residential markets. Thought it remains privately owned, Arizona Tile is one of the largest importers of stone in the Unites States. Its ever-expanding collection of natural stone, quartz, glass and porcelain materials give Arizona Tile a competitive advantage by allowing it to stay at the front-end of the hottest trends, while continuing to cater to traditional tastes as well.
Are there any popular materials or designs that local homeowners should consider?
Quartz has been a top-pick in recent years. Our Della Terra Quartz line has 48 colors and a handful of new color releases in store for 2018. This wide array of colors and finishes gives homeowners the versatility to tailor fit their materials to suit their design styles.
Wood-look porcelain is also a trending, popular material. As porcelain requires minimal maintenance, series like our Aequa line have given homeowners the ability to achieve the warmth of reclaimed-wood installations, while maintaining the durable characteristics of porcelain. This material is a top-pick in local installations, especially due to the exciting new release of our R11 Anti-Slip Finish. Now that Aequa is stocked in our R11 finish, flooring installations can be truly seamless; bringing the beauty and design from the interior of a home, to its outdoor living areas. In Arizona, this is especially convenient, as homeowners may prefer a fluid transition from indoor living spaces to adjacent pool areas. The R11 Anti-Slip Finish is specifically designed for outdoor, exposed areas, as well as wet applications, including shower floors. Arizona Tile stocks the R11 Anti-Slip Finish in four porcelain series: Aequa, More Wood, Pietra Italia and Reside.
What advice do you have for homeowners interested in installing tiles?
Before having tile installed, homeowners should consider their lifestyle, their family needs, and their ability to manage the specific maintenance involved with any particular product. For example, it is recommended that natural stone flooring be sealed upon installation to extend its longevity. Re-sealing should be done every 1-2 years to protect the stone and keep it looking beautiful. In contrast, porcelain flooring does not require sealing and requires very minimal maintenance, overall.
Which tile would you suggest for a homeowner looking to increase the value of their home?
In general, granite has been known to increase the value of a home when installed to replace non-stone materials on countertops. Porcelain tile is a practical option for flooring, especially in high-traffic areas as it will not wear as quickly as carpet. However, homeowners should always defer to the recommendation of a local realtor to determine what updates might yield the best return on investment in a given area.
Can you tell us a bit about your Recycled Material Tile and the benefits of choosing eco-friendly styles?
Green construction can be important in residential and commercial building design. Many people wonder if slab and tile are considered environmentally friendly choices. The answer is yes! Using products that are durable and long-lasting, like natural stone slabs and tiles made of natural stone, don’t need to be replaced often, therefore resulting in less waste over time – less production waste and less landfill waste. It’s a smart choice. Arizona Tile offers over 230 varieties of natural stone slabs and tiles consisting of granite, marble, limestone, travertine, and quartzite.
While natural stone slabs and tiles don’t contain recycled materials, many other choices in slab and tile do use pre-consumer and post-consumer recycling in the manufacturing process. Though most of our green products contain pre-consumer recycled materials, a few are made with both pre- and post-consumer recycled content. We carry over 25 products that are made with some percentage of recycled material, which can be found on this page of our website: Recycled Material Content.
